About

About

I’m Chris Fleming, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I work in Telecommunications. This site is where I write about the things I spend my time on: mostly maps, cycling, technology and occasional observations on life.

OpenStreetMap

I’ve been contributing to OpenStreetMap since 2007. Over the years that’s meant mapping the streets of Edinburgh on foot and by bike, organising local mapping parties, and keeping an eye on how the map of Scotland has evolved. For several years, I’ve given a periodic talk, the State of the Map Scotland: looking at where OSM coverage stands across the country, which has turned into an interesting record of progress over time.

If you want to find me on OSM, I’m chrisfleming.

Cycling

I’m a regular cycle commuter; I also host the Edinburgh Cycle Forum.

This site

This blog has been running in various forms since 2006, starting on Serendipity, moving to Wordpress in 2010, on to Octopress framework around Jekyll in 2013 for a while, and now runs on Jekyll with the Chirpy theme. The older posts reflect the era they were written in, links and all.
